    March 6, 2009 - Annapolis Update

Weeks worth of fun in Annapolis!
The past 7 days just flew by! We are having a nice, relaxing time in Annapolis. We took the dogs to the dog park, played in the snow, went to a few great restaurants, and basically just hung out.........well, I hung out, Jenn worked the whole week:-)

The first thing we did on Saturday was hit the dog park! We heard rumors that it might snow a little on Sunday, so we wanted to make sure we ran the dogs a little before it got too wet. We went to Quiet Waters Dog Park about 5 minutes from my dad's house in Annapolis. The park is HUGE! They have it split between big dogs and small dogs.....but Maddie & Dexter only want to play in the big dog park:-)
The snow started to fall on Sunday so the dogs were stuck inside......but the humans snuck out for a couple good meals. We went to McGarvey's for brunch. (Here is the deal, you can't tell anyone about it because it's a local place - and the lady who told us about it told us not to tell anyone). The breakfast was actually wonderful and somewhat inexpensive - such a wonderful combination.
Sunday night we experienced the "Crab Bomb"! Yep, it just explodes in your mouth! We went to Jerry's Seafood on West Street in downtown Annapolis which features the Crab Bomb! 10oz of moist, tasty crab meat all lumped together in a big ball. It was awesome!
Monday Morning we went to the dog park at my dad's building to let the pups play in the snow. There is a whole blog entry below of us in the snow, but here are a couple fun pictures for your viewing pleasure.........
Monday night we walked over to
Morton's Steakhouse. I had a Cajun Ribeye that is marinated for 3 days - it was awesome! I think this is a picture of a Ribeye.....but mine was much more RARE than this one:-) ! At most restaurants when I ask for my steak Rare, it comes out closer to medium rare or Pittsburgh style(Leslie & Bill)....but this time it was perfect! Almost as good as the Steak that Bill made for me at their house in Tampa.
Tuesday night we went to dinner with Randy Eastep. It was so nice to see him and to catch up for a while over a couple glasses of wine at a nice Italian place in Baltimore's Little Italy. I have to admit, I was a little offended when Randy mentioned an Italian place as the first place to go eat just because I am Italian American.........I did not ask him to go eat at Chick-fil-A just because he owns one.....hahaha (Just kidding Randy - dinner was great and the company was better)

The fun part of my week was rebuilding my dad's home stereo. He has some great equipment, but some of the peices are not right for this particular application, so I made a couple changes and he is totally now in business! We picked up a new receiver, a couple wires, and a Haromony remote. I was going to buy a Pioneer receiver because we love our Elite receivers, BUT - my friend Mike got laid off, so no more pioneer for this family! So my second choice (based on my options from Best Buy) was a Harmon Kardon because my friend Byron has one and says good things. We picked up the AV 154 Model and I like it so far. Definitely a good peice for an entry level model.

Dad also had a Sony Blu-Ray player laying around in the box - so I hooked that up for him so he can watch DVD's and listen to CD's.

The last peice of the puzzle was getting rid of all the remotes! I picked up a Harmony One remote that we can program to do all the fancy things we want to do......or at least think we will want to do:-)
Here are all the cool things that he can do now:
    Watch TV
    Watch DVD
    Listen to CD's
Listen to CD's and Watch TV
    Listen to Ipod
Listen to Ipod and Watch TV (what I am doing now!)
Watch VCR (what ever that is;-) )
Hook up his computer to the TV and a few more things......
So, hopefully he is all set and worry free when it comes to electronics!

This weekend we are headed to DC for a play called "What so proudly we bailed" at the Hexagon Theatre. I think we are going to check out some of the sites around downtown DC and go to dinner at a place called Old Ebbets Grill. It looks like there is a bit of history at the restaurant.....but there was too much to read so I don't know all of it......I guess a couple presidents use to eat there or something;-)

    Have a great weekend!
